ConvertAbout this tool
Convert any color PDF to grayscale by rendering each page as a high-quality monochrome image. This guarantees that all color — including colored text, images, and vector graphics — is fully removed. The result is ideal for black-and-white printing. Note: because pages are rasterized, text will not be selectable in the output.
Key features
Complete color removal
Every element — images, text, and vector graphics — is converted to grayscale.
Print optimized

Works on all PDFs
Handles scanned documents, image-heavy PDFs, and typeset documents equally well.
Secure & private
Files are processed securely and deleted immediately after download.
Frequently asked questions
- Will text still be selectable after conversion?
- No. Each page is rendered as an image, so the output is a raster PDF — text, bookmarks, and hyperlinks will not be present in the result.
- Will this work on scanned PDFs?
- Yes. Scanned PDFs are already raster images, so grayscale conversion works perfectly on them.
- Why does the output look correct but text is not selectable?
- The tool renders each page at 150 DPI to an image before converting to grayscale. This is the most reliable way to ensure all color is removed, but it produces a raster-only PDF.
- Will the file size change?
- The file size may increase slightly compared to the original because each page becomes a lossless grayscale image. For scanned PDFs it is often similar or smaller.
