About this tool

PDF Studio's PDF to Excel tool extracts text from each page and writes it into an .xlsx workbook with one sheet per page. It is a text-extraction conversion — complex table structures and merged cells from the original PDF may not map exactly to spreadsheet cells.

Key features

  • One sheet per page

Each PDF page is extracted into its own worksheet tab in the workbook.

  • Opens in Excel & Sheets

The .xlsx output works in Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, and LibreOffice Calc.

  • No data retention

Files are deleted from our servers after conversion.

  • Free to use

    No subscription or account required.

Frequently asked questions

Will my PDF table be perfectly reproduced in Excel?
Table detection is best-effort based on text position. Simple tabular data usually maps well; complex merged cells and nested tables may need manual cleanup after conversion.
Can I convert a scanned PDF?
Scanned PDFs are image-based and contain no embedded text. The output will be empty. Run OCR on the PDF first to embed text before converting.
What if my PDF has multiple pages?
Each page is written to a separate worksheet in the same .xlsx workbook.
Are my files stored?
Files are deleted immediately after processing.
